AI Trading Bot Red Flags

The biggest warning signs usually appear where performance claims, risk disclosure and control of client money meet.

Guaranteed or near-guaranteed profits

Markets are uncertain. Language implying that returns are assured, fixed or essentially risk-free deserves immediate scrutiny.

Screenshots instead of evidence

A screenshot can be selective or altered. Look for independently trackable live history, meaningful duration and enough trades to evaluate the strategy.

Return claims without drawdown

A monthly return figure is incomplete without the losses required to achieve it. Ask for drawdown, position sizing and what happens during adverse market moves.

Unclear custody

You should understand where money is deposited, which legal entity holds the account, who can trade it and who controls withdrawals.

Pressure and artificial urgency

Limited-time pressure is especially concerning when paired with complex products that require due diligence. A legitimate evaluation should survive careful reading.

Opaque fees or withdrawal rules

Performance fees, lock-ins and withdrawal conditions should be understandable before money is committed.
